Building Culture with Purpose

This post looks at how roster turnover affects team culture. When roughly half a roster changes each year, culture can no longer rest with senior players. It compares two eras: previously, four-year players passed culture down, leaders were developed in-house, and traditions carried themselves from one class to the next. Now, new players arrive every season, leaders must be developed quickly, and teams must build culture intentionally each year. When a team’s culture depends on the specific people in the locker room, much of it leaves when they do.
