I recently had the honor and pleasure to conduct workshops for Nanook Athletics at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, the main campus of the university system in Alaska.
In an area of such beautry, life has its challenges there. A must is a motor block heater to assure your car will start the next morning. And even when it’s outdoors, make sure there’s an outpost with a plugin for your vehicle.
Needless to say, thriving in such a climate that is hard and beautiful requires a deep respect for community, trust, and collaboration. At Nanook Athletics, teams grow with the support of team members and coaches so they can achieve shared goals.
Success is about hard work which is evidenced by determination and a strong work ethic. All value understanding, making an effort to appreciate diverse perspectives and experiences, which enrich our team dynamics and decision-making.
Needless to say the student-athlete experience at Fairbanks is rooted in this deep respect for others and the opportunity to grow as an individual leader.
